History
At St. Stephen's, our History curriculum aims to inspire a passion for the subject and develop students' talents as historians. By linking History with subjects like Geography and English, the curriculum fosters curiosity about the past. Children explore significant global events and diverse individuals who have shaped our world, enhancing their understanding of different cultures and societies. Through various sources, including visitors, trips, and museum loans, children compare past and present lifestyles, encouraging critical thinking and evidence evaluation. Emphasis is placed on building substantive and disciplinary knowledge, factual information and vocabulary, and the skills to construct historical arguments and accounts. This approach ensures students can sequence events chronologically and confidently use historical terminology.
