Design and Technology

At St Stephen's, the Design and Technology (DT) curriculum aims to inspire students to use creativity and imagination to design and create products that address real-world problems, considering their own and others' needs, wants, and values. The program is structured to be inspiring, rigorous, and practical, providing opportunities for students to apply their knowledge during enrichment days. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for future success by offering experiences that encourage aspirations in STEM careers. Our school-wide yearly overview ensures progression across various DT areas, well-planned and resourced projects for hands-on learning, and flexibility for teachers to plan DT lessons as blocks, allowing time for critical, inventive, and reflective work. Each project from Year 1 to Year 6 focuses on designing, making, and evaluating, incorporating relevant technical knowledge in appropriate contexts.
