Oracy (Speaking and Listening)
We are pleased to become a "Voice 21" school in September 2022 which means that we are taking a renewed focus on the development of spoken language and oracy. We currently use the Lancashire KLIPS, which identify the key knowledge and skills to be learned in each year group. We prioritise the learning of vocabulary in order to communicate understanding and to increase acquisition of knowledge.
We also know that improved speaking and listening skills will impact on the quality of writing and will also help children to gain the confidence to communicate effectively which will have many benefits to personal and social development as well as overal learning.
Year 5 are a project year group, linking with Voice 21 to develop oracy assessment. We are pleased to be involved as we aim high for our children and seek to give them the very best access to improving their speaking and listing skills.
